Glenda Hudson was invited to give a lecture tour in Australia in April 2010. She gave lectures to the Jane Austen Society of Australia in Sydney and in Canberra and to the Jane Austen Society of Melbourne. Her lectures focused on sibling relationships, both functional and dysfunctional, in Austen’s fiction. Dr. Hudson offered new insights on arguments she presented in her Sibling Love and Incest in Jane Austen’s Fiction (Macmillan/Palgrave, 1992; paperback, 1999) in light of new studies of the family in fiction. Her lecture was published in Sensibilities: the Journal of the Jane Austen Society of Australia 40 (June 2010). In addition, Dr. Hudson’s A Contemporary Guide to Literary Terms, co-authored with Edwin Barton and originally published in 1997, came out in March 2011 in a third edition with Houghton Mifflin/Cengage. The book offers definitions of literary terms and offers contemporary as well as classic examples from literary texts and films.
