CSUB partnered with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to host Teaching about Holocaust, a one-day workshop attended by more than 30 educators from middle schools, high schools and community colleges in Kern County. Teachers studied how to teach the history of the Holocaust, explored online sources to supplement classroom activities, and reflected with prominent scholar John Roth on significant changes in Holocaust education over the past 30 years. The day ended with a viewing of the film “I”m Still Here” and a talk by Peter Fiegl, a Holocaust survivor whose childhood diary was featured in the film. More than 100 students and community members joined the teachers for his powerful presentation. Follow-up activities include a trip to the LA Holocaust Museum and lesson plan sharing as part of a continuing education course led by Dr. Liora Gubkin, Associate Professor of Religious Studies.
